About Us

The National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), is a decentralized public organ, created in July 2004 by the Congress of the Union. It is the eleventh National Institute of Health.

The project that lead to the creation of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine  (INMEGEN) was developed through the Promoting Consortium of the Genomic Medicine Institute, with the support of the National Board for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and the Mexican Health Foundation. These agencies conducted preliminary studies which lead to the approval of an amendment to the National Institutes of Health Act, published on July 20, 2004 in the Federal Official Gazette.
