- Position INMEGEN as a driving force in the development of genomic medicine in Mexico.

- Operate INMEGEN as an innovative, dynamic and efficient organization with full development of its competitive advantages and based on sound quality and principles of excellence under a social commitment and responsibility.

- Promote a kind of genomic medicine that contributes to more individualized, predictive and preventive medical practices.

- Promote scientific and technological development related to genomic medicine in Mexico.

- Develop new therapy opportunities such as pharmacogenomics.

- Contribute significant savings in health care by applying the results of the scientific research conducted at the Institute.

- Foster production of new goods and services related to health care of the Mexican population.

- Provide the basis for a medical practice founded on the genomic structure of the Mexican populations and their epidemiological needs.

- Train high-quality human resources capable of responding to the needs stemming from the development of genomic medicine and related areas in Mexico.

- Systematically incorporate diagnostic tools and genomic therapy into medical practice.

- Encourage and develop academic curricula in genomic medicine by gathering high-quality human and material resources.

- Establish mechanisms that assure compliance with the ethical, legal and social framework of genomic medicine.

- Establish strategic partnerships with domestic and international institutions involved in genomic medicine to produce a strong horizontal link along three lines: academia, applications and industry, and promote INMEGEN at international level.

- Disseminate the results of genomic medicine research among the scientific community and society in general.

- Reinforce an intellectual property system connected to INMEGEN’s research projects and encourage the development of new genomic-based businesses that operate with social responsibility.
