The Genotyping and Expression Analysis Unit at the INMEGEN has the necessary infrastructure to conduct experiments with the latest generation of genomic and expression microarrays using the Affymetrix and Illumina platform.
Affymetrix Plataform is used in the most academic and government institutions engaged in genomic research worlwide and a large number of pharmaceutical, diagnostics and biotechnology companies use Affimetrix technology. At present, there are over 1,200 Affymetrix microarray systems globally, which have resulted in the publication of over 3,400 scientific papers in indexed journals.
The Unit has microarrays for genomic DNA analysis, with a capacity to analyze 10,000, 50,000, 100,000 to 500,000 SNPs simultaneously in individual samples. This capacity enables the conduction of population studies, as well as linkage or association studies between diseases and specific genomic variations, and studies on altered numbers of DNA copies, which are particularly relevant to the study of neoplastic conditions.
The versatility of this unit includes the capacity to analize human, rate and mouse expression microarrays. This type of microarrays allow to carry out experiments that compare bosses of gene expression in diverse experimental or pathological conditions, including changes caused by the exhibition to medicaments.
