Ending of the Director General's Administration,
Founder of INMEGEN (2004-2009)
Mexico, D.F. - On October 1, 2009, Dr. Gerardo Jimenez Sanchez, founding Director General of INMEGEN, submitted his five-year Activities Report 2004-2009 to the Government Board of the Institute, on the occasion of the ending of his administration as the law stipulates for General Directors of the National Institutes of Health. During this meeting, the Government Board of INMEGEN approved the report of activities 2004-2009.
Dr. Jimenez Sanchez highlighted that this Report presents the full implementation of the 2004-2009 Work Program, as well as of the most important achievements that have registered in the Institute throughout its first five years of activities. Even, the document indicates perspectives and challenges in the genomic medicine area, particularly for INMEGEN. The document is divided as follows:

Volume I includes the Work Program of INMEGEN during 2004-2009, approved by the Government Board that it was formed in nine strategies, each one with closely related lines of action and 125 goals.
Volume II consists of the 2004-2009 Activity Report, which is composed of three parts; the first one refers to the precedents with the planning and creation of INMEGEN; the second part highlights findings, in fulfillment of the goals and objectives proposed in the 2004-2009 Work Program, from differents areas which has focused the INMEGEN, that include: the research area, education, technological development, entailment, establishment of infrastructure and administration, among others. Part three refers to challenges and prospects for the Institution in the context of the scientific- technological advance that Genomic Medicine worldwide registers.
Volume III includes a compilation of the most relevant scientific publications of the INMEGEN during the period 2004-2009.
Volume IV integrates the most relevant Outreach Publications, including the Comic "Genomic Medicine".
During this meeting, it was emphasized that this report is clear testimony of transparency and accountability that has characterized the administration of the founding Director General of the institution.
Dr. Jimenez acknowledged and thanked the support of: Government Board and the Founding Patronage, national and international institutions, and the scientific and personal team of the INMEGEN whose work was fundamental for the achievement over the first five years of life of the INMEGEN.
Thus, Dr. Jimenez Sanchez culminates his administration as Director General of the INMEGEN.
