Genomic Medicine Journal
Genomic
Medicine is a new biomedical journal that will publish original
papers on all issues related to genomic medicine. Dr. Gerardo Jimenez
Sanchez, Director General of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine
(INMEGEN), is the Regional Editor for Latin America and the
Caribbean.
The main
purpose of the magazine is to be an important vehicle for the
publication of a wide range of research projects and papers in the
field of genomics and its implications to the current and future
clinical practice of medicine and public health. The scope of the
magazine reflects the rapid natural expansion of the genomic field.
|
The journal
receives articles and papers focused on three categories:
-
- Advances
in knowledge and development of genomics-related fields such as the
implications to medicine and public health. For example, the journal
icontains papers on basic biology, molecular biology, genomic
epidemiology, clinical proteomics, microbial genomics, comparative
genomics, high technology genomics, bioinformatics,
pharmacogenomics, nutrigenomics, clinical therapy, toxicogenomics,
individualized medicine, genomics in cancer, and population
genomics.
-
- Transfer
of genome research in order to understand the medical complexity of
diseases (for instance, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus,
asthma, cancer, skin disease, and pediatric diseases).
-
- Social
and behavioral issues related to practicing genomic medicine.
-
- Debate
and discussion on ethical, legal and social aspects related to
genomic medicine.
- Discussions
about case studies supported by therapeutic and diagnostic
procedures.
The journal
will not consider research papers about basic genomics, isolated
clinical cases, frequency of population polymorphism, gene mapping of
unknown functions, unless they raise scientific interest due to an
unusual feature or disorder that leads to an increased biological
understanding of the process and can be applied to common disorders.
