Signing Collaboration agreement to create Peripheral Unit Population Genomics Research Applied to Health

Mexico City / August 18, 2011.

In the context of Symposium “Genomics, Obesity and Diabetes” close, organized by Chemistry Faculty of UNAM and the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN) was published the signing of collaboration agreement between these institutions for creation of “Peripheral Unit Population Genomics Research Applied to Health”, which will develop research projects focused on specific health problems of Mexican population.


INMEGEN strenghten bond with UAM

As part of the General Convention of institutional collaboration between the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN) and the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM), the Bureau of Educational and Outreach (DED) gave the introductory lecture Genomic Medicine: Overview, students of the common trunk Division of Biological Sciences and Health Campus UAM Xochimilco.

The presentation was made by Dr. Maria de los Angeles Fernandez Altuna, Director of Education and Outreach, and was attended by about 500 students from eight different careers, from medicine and nutrition, biology and veterinary-up, which is a success assistance above expectations.

Dr. Enrique Fernandez Fassnacht, Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) Rector and Dr. Xavier Soberon Mainer, General Director of National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), General Institutional Collaboration Agreement in order to establish initial bases and guidelines for dissemination and exchange of research lines and interest areas in common with a view to developing future collaborative projects.
