The National Institute of Genomic Medicine hosted the second International Symposium on “Nutrigenomics and Obesity”

On 27 and 28 February was held the second International Symposium on “Nutrigenomics and Obesity”, at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine. This event was organized by the Foundation Dianui AC and involved doctors and researchers of INMEGEN.

INMEGEN and NESTLÉ in Second Internacional Nutrigenomics Symposium

National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), Mexico’s leader institution in genomic medicine, and Nestlé, a global leader in Nutrition, Health and Welfare, have one of the most outstanding academic programs in genomics, the Second International Symposium in Nutrigenomics “Diet, genomics and Health “to be held on September 29 and 30 in Mexico City.

During this symposium, some of the most recognized experts in the world approach issues related to chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes mellitus type 2 , hypertension and cancer, diseases that have a strong genetic component. In the event it is discussed the key role played by diet in the development of these diseases, which in Mexico and the world affect a significant number of people and growing, with high social and financial impact. It also highlights the importance of research in Nutrigenomics and how this discipline offers new opportunities to identify interactions between diet and human genetic variability, which can result in food-based strategies to prevent or help control conditions complex health.

Symposium “Using genomic medicine in the fight against chronic diseases”

Today was held at Museo Soumaya in Mexico City, the Symposium “Using genomic medicine in the fight against chronic diseases” organized by the Carlos Slim Health Institute and National Institute of Genomic Medicine inthe framework of Slim Initiative for Genomic Medicine.

As from the among Carlos Slim Health Institute, National Institute of Genomic Medicine and MIT Broad Institute, it was created the initiative started in 2010 which aim is stimulating the development of capacity in genomic research in Mexico and encourage the genomic knowledge translation in preventive, prophylactic and diagnostic elements and therapeutic, availables for entire population, using the most revolutionary innovations in research and shaped by a series of integrated strategies in three components: research, training human resources and integration of genomics research network in Mexico.
