Workshop “Genome wide association analysis”


Mexico City, Thursday, July 6, 2011

On 5 and 6 July was held at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), the workshop entitled “Genome wide association analysis” carried out under the framework of the SLIM initiative in Genomic Medicine Institute where Carlos Slim collaborate Health, the Broad Institute and INMEGEN.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Maria de los Angeles Fernandez, Director of Education and Outreach of INMEGEN, Dr. Marisa Cortes, Manager of the Slim for Genomic Medicine Initiative and Dr. Miguel Betancourt, Director of Global Solutions of Carlos Slim Health Institute.

The guest lecturers who participated in the workshop were Dr. Benjamin F. Cotsapas Voight and Chris, both researchers at the Broad Institute, who over a series of lectures and exercises led participants to make a reasoned analysis on the progress of experiments, analysis of genetic data, knowledge and implementation technological tools and computer programs that allow data analysis and application.

There were more than 30 attendees from various institutions in both Mexico City and the interior of the country, which allows it to spread knowledge and enrich the inter-institutional relations.

The workshop is part of a series of academic activities that take place during the second half of 2011 under the framework of the SLIM initiative in Genomic Medicine.
